We use a simple Birdie Rating out of 10 to let you know what we think when we’ve played a course or tested the gear ourselves. Most of the time, though, we gather and reference information from reputable public sources and golfer feedback to help you make an informed decision for your next game. We’ll make it clear which approach we’ve taken.

Where we can, we’ll link you to the relevant websites for bookings or purchases. For course guides, we’ll also include a quick summary of the costs you can expect when you play, so you can plan ahead.

The Golf Bogan Birdie Rating

Our Birdie Rating is a simple score out of 10. Depending on whether we’re covering a course, clubs, balls, other gear or an experience, we may consider:

The criteria can vary. We won’t assign a rating unless the article has enough information to support one, and we’ll say whether our view comes from first-hand playing or testing, or from research and other golfers’ feedback.

How we put it together

Some articles will be based on what we’ve personally played or tested. Others will be research-led round-ups based on reputable public information and golfer feedback. When we haven’t personally tried something, we’ll tell you. Sponsored, supplied or affiliate-related content will be disclosed where relevant.
